ADOPTED!!!! ~3 years old. Good with kids, dogs, and cats (COURTESY LISTING) Date Posted: 1/1/2015 Izzy will be 3yo on January 2nd. She is a HALF German Shepherd HALF Dutch Shepherd. She is approximately 75lbs and a cream/black/silver color. She is house broken, kennel trained, knows sit, stay, down, "here" aka come, heal, leave it 50% of the time, fetch, and roll over. She is fixed, and has a microchip. She is up to date on her rabies, had a kennel cough vaccine in August and is due for a distemper vaccine. She has not been heart worm tested this year, nor has she need on any heart guard in the last 6 months. According to the vet, last time she was in to get vaccines, she has no health problems. A little history of her breeding, Izzy's Mom was a 55lb silver Dutch Shepherd who worked for a police man, and was trained as a personal protection dog for his wife and family. Her Father was a 95lb black/red German Shepherd who was a family dog/duck and chicken herder. Izzy has great instinct, she is always alert when out on a walk or at the park. She will walk in a "heal" next to me, or she likes to walk off leash and will circle us while we walk. Coming back every few minutes to hit my hand. She will bark at a new person if they approach the yard or while she is walking off leash. But once told to stop she does, and once she sniffs the person is very very friendly. She is drawn to children and handicapped people. She fallows me around all the time, sleeping at my feet and always making sure to stay near by in case i need her. She has been raised with children, my boys were 2 and 5 when we got her. She has never shown aggression to them. they can feed her, take her bone/toy, and walk her. Izzy is a little timid when meeting a new dog, it really depends on the dog she is meeting as to how she reacts to it. If the dog is quiet and submissive she excepts them quickly. If the dog is at all aggressive she tends to take a bit longer to warm up to them. She will bark at them and circle me if she is off the leash. (our neighborhood is HORRIBLE as far as dogs goes, there are loose dogs all the time and they are never friendly. We have been out on a walk multiple times and have been attacked by loose dogs. Izzy gets very upset and takes a very defensive stand. I think she is protecting me and the other dogs in our family. But when meeting dogs to play with, once she knows they aren't going to attack her or anyone else she plays and plays and plays.) I am needing to rehome Izzy because I feel she is not happy in our family. She is one of three dogs, I have two boys, and my husband is in the military. I was not working when we got her, but since then got a full time job with set hours. When that job didn't work out I got a part time job, my schedule is not the same all the time and that means I dont always get to spend the same amount of time with the dogs. She is best when she is doing a consistent "job" Her work drive is amazing, she will go all day long if she knows shes doing the job you want her too. I think she would be a great service dog for someone, or therapy dog. I sadly do not have the time to meet her needs. She has started to get destructive at home when Im not home. Chewing things, eating the cat food, and digging holes in the yard when outside. I think if she can find a home that can give her a job, those things would stop. Her behavior these days is causing me to be very stressed out which only makes her worse i think. Vet check and home visit required to ensure she will get a great home.
