Lucy - 2-3 years old.  Good with kids and dogs.  Cats TBD.

Hey there!!! My name is Lucy and I’m so grateful to be looking for my forever family. You see I was saved from a high kill shelter where I sat in fear for almost a month not knowing my fate. Then one day my foster mom came to see me. She took me out of the cage, played with me, held me and let me play my foster sister and that was it…she said, “you’re coming home with me”. At that time I was just a little skinny girl who was sad, alone and worried but once I got out of there, I started to feel safe and happy again. I started to gain weight and my true personality really began to shine! I love attention and want to be near my people. Sometimes, if you are one of my favorite people, I may hug you just to show you how much I love you. I may gently wrap my paws around you and lean my head on your chest so I can be close to you…it’s my way of saying you are super special to me.

I’m a pretty (my foster mom says I’m stunning), petite girl and have a beautiful glossy black coat. I like meeting new people and greet everybody with a respectful tail wag because I’m a friendly confident girl. I’m a fairly quiet girl in the house but at times I forget and want to play. Foster mom is helping me to understand that doggie play is for the outdoors. I really like playing with all my foster siblings and am learning to correctly engage them. Sometimes I can be a bit over enthusiastic at times but heck this is all new to me…and I’m learning fast. The world is a great place because there are so many things to see and smell. I’ve discovered there are things called TOYS and just love my tennis ball and rope toys, especially when someone tosses them for me to catch. Of course one of my favorite things to do is ride in the cool moving box my mom calls a car! I’m also working on my leash manners, learning to walk quietly and making progress everyday. There’s so much to see and experience and I’m working hard to be the bestest sheppie ever! So what do you say??

From foster mom:

I Love Lucy!!!! She is a gem of a girl. She showed no interest in the cats at the shelter but looked interested in a few strays that hang around my workplace. I don't think she is overly interested, but do think she would chase a cat that runs from her. She is very food motivated and eager to learn. She’s a delightful shepherd who will be a great companion for some lucky family. Right now she’s undergoing HW treatment but will be ready to find her forever home mid-October So are you ready for a slice of happiness to join your family??
