German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young
~1 year old. Good with older considerate kids and dogs. Cats TBD. Needs a companion animal. Bleu is my name and giving kisses is my game! My foster mom tells me over and over that I'm very handsome and so sweet, so I'll take it! I really just want lots and lots of love! I'm just a puppy - about one year old - and I need a lot of training including basic commands. I'm really smart though, so I'm sure to learn quickly with someone that is patient and kind. I don't have an aggressive bone in my body, but sometimes I get in trouble for being too excited to play with the ball - I LOVE PLAYING BALL, but there are times when I'm so excited that I don't wait for my mom to throw it. I'm getting used to riding in the car, and now I think it's pretty fun - I also like cuddling in the bed with mom or sleeping on my own comfy bed next to her and my foster sister, Bella. Sometimes I can be a bit shy, so I need someone who will be onsiderate and will understand that my life has been a bit scary until I was rescued by GSRA, but I will come out of my shell fast if you love me! From Bleu's Foster Mom: He is not at all fond of his crate; however, I have found that with some puppy-proofing he can be allowed to roam free in the house with minimal issues. He is never alone in the house - he has his foster sister Bella who is a 90lb female GSD. I would recommend that he has a bit older companion doggy to help him with his training - he learned to sit for his food and other house manners by watching Bella's actions. Also, I have a feeling that this will be an added comfort for him while his human family isn't home. He can be shy with strangers, but if they are slow on approach and let him walk up to them, he welcomes being petted and gives kisses to about anyone. He is good with all sizes of dogs, but should supervised at first with small dogs as he doesn't know his own strength and be a little too playful with them. The same goes for small children - he is not aggressive, but he can be a bit over zealous and needs guidance. Playing fetch should be controlled with commands such as sit, wait, ready, OK so that he learns not to jump up or try to steal the ball or other toys until it is OK to take them. Overall, Bleu will make a very sweet, gentle and loving family pet - but will need a family dedicated to training him. Just don't look into his big brown eyes - you might fall in love!
