Endearing! That is the word I use to describe this bundle of sweetness. Izzy has been in my home since early December and she has started showing me her true self. Sometimes it takes a while for a Senior to totally open up, trust and relax. She is so quiet and reserved. Izzy will wait all day for a gentle pat on the head and just melt to the floor when you start to scratch her. You can’t help but smile and laugh watching how much she honors just a small touch. But, she will not push herself for more attention, she is just happy to be part of a warm home.

The devotion of a German Shepherd is amazing! Yes Izzy has bad knees but that does not stop her. Every night she struggles up my steep steps to be able to sleep by my bed. I never ask her to follow me to bed she decided that on her own. What an honor to watch her make it to the top of the steps..she just smiles and wags her tail and waits for the petting to start. She sleeps among all the cats and never makes a sound. She waits until you are ready to get up very respectful of your time and space.

She has made her own schedule…outside as soon as she wakes up, a small breakfast to take her pain meds then nap time. She likes to be in the room with you but once again if you have to leave her you will return to find her in the same spot. She’s not much on being outside or long walks. She does her business, smells the air and ready to come back in and snuggle.
