GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC

BJ is a super sweet, young, handsome boy. He greets everyone with kisses after he gets a chance for a sniff. BJ loves considerate children. He is young (and big) and can get pretty excited, so supervision around children is recommended. He is about 1 or 2 years old and is house trained. He has only been vocal if someone is in the yard or he hears something outside. He has been known to sing along with a passing ambulance though! He has his playful spurts, but he is mostly laid back and content to lay at your feet. He spooks easily by loud noises and can be fearful of new things (like getting his ears cleaned). When he gets nervous he needs some quiet time alone to calm down. He is perfectly behaved in the car and always tries to coax us to take him for a ride. He does well going for walks and lets everyone pass on by unless you allow for an interaction. BJ loves to snuggle and be as close as he can to the people he loves. In fact, he has no consideration for personal space. Whether you are getting ready for work, relaxing, going to the bathroom or cooking dinner, he will be RIGHT by your side. When you do have to leave, he does very well in the crate and will go inside with just a bit of encouragement. He is a sock and hair scrunchie thief, so it is advised to keep those out of his reach. He is beginning to learn commands and does "sit" and "paw" with ease. He sits for his meals, treats and to be put on a leash. He is an anxious learner so he needs someone who will continue his education. He has been working on fixing a few bad manners, but it's nothing training won't cure. This includes jumping up and getting in your face when you have food. He is good with other dogs, but is NOT good with cats. Sadly, his last interaction with a cat did not go well for anyone. A 6 foot fence is recommended for BJ. Anything less would just be a hurdle. He is a wonderful boy and everyone he meets falls in love with him. This foster family has found him to be an absolute joy. He just can't wait to bring all that joy into his forever home.
