Hi my name is Bernie and I am looking for a new home, my previous parents were elderly and not able to care for me any more. I love to go for walks and get very excited when we ride in the car. I like everyone after I have a sniff to make sure you are a good dog person. I love to be near my humans but will calmly wait in the house when they have to leave. I love my teddy bear, I got to bring him from my old house and he will be with me with I move to my new forever family.

From Bernie's Foster Mom.

Bernie is a stunning classic black and tan shepherd. He has a very laid back, calm demeanor. He is as sweet as they come, he loves attention from his human family members. He does not have any separation anxiety issues. He is good with small dogs (basically ignores them). Cats tbd but I assume he would be okay with them as well. I do not believe he had a lot of interaction with larger dogs, he is slightly reactive towards them and has a tendency to charge towards them and nip when he wants to play. An alpha dog could interpret this as aggression and trigger a fight and a submissive dog could be overwhelmed and not be comfortable around Bernie. Because of this I think he would do best as an only pet or with small dogs. Bernie is crate trained, house trained, walks like a dream on leash with a prong collar. He is trustworthy in the house when left alone. He does not jump up on people, and does not climb on the furniture. So basically Bernie is almost PERFECT. He is somewhat vocal especially when trying to get larger dogs to play with him. Bernie turns heads everywhere he goes. If you are looking for a buddy to hang out with, take to dog friendly restaurants, walk down town then Bernie is the dog for you.
