GSRA Adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Gemma came to GSRA in pretty rough shape. She was found lying in a ditch with a gunshot wound to her front leg. Beyond that, no one knows much about her past - which is fine, because Gemma is all about the present!! Surgery and physical rehabilitation have restored her mobility and now there is nothing stopping Gemma getting the home she has always dreamed about!

Gemma is a big girl, around 72lbs, and as strong as an ox. She is confident, happy and every bit a GSD!! She needs an experienced owner to show her the ropes and to keep her natural curiosity and zest for life from getting her into mischief. Gemma would be fine as an only dog or in a home with a male dog to keep her company. She's not one for playing with the other dogs in her home, but she does like adjudicating - kind of like a sports announcer :) Her favorite thing though is to follow her human where ever they may go -up the stairs, down the stairs, out the door, in the door, to the fridge, on the couch... you get the idea. She is as loyal as the day is long, but not in a needy kind of way.

As Gemma continues to heal from her ordeal she will benefit from lots of long, gentle walks and even some hikes. Sand would be excellent for building up her muscles and we all know that water therapy is a fantastic way to help a dog heal. Although Gemma will never be a runner, she has no problem jumping up into the car (or onto the couch :) ), and loves going for walks. 

Gemma is a fantastic, happy, funny girl who will make a great addition to any family.
